Colorado Blue Spruce Meyer Spruce
Colorado Blue Spruce (sent to the majority of our states) The Colorado Blue Spruce, our most popular species, is a hardy, adaptable tree with short needles; slow growth rate; prefers full to partial sun; does best in moist, well drained soils, but is tolerant of other soils, often grown for Christmas trees and ornamentals. Meyer Spruce (sent only to our most southern/warm states due to availability). Imported from China the Meyer Spruce (Picea meyeri)  can withstand a wide range of temperatures.  Soft uniform blue-green color, medium growth rate; is tolerant of shade, tolerates a wide range of soil conditions and is very drought tolerant.  Often grown for Christmas trees and ornamentals.

What is a Meyer Spruce?

Also available are Norway Spruce, Afghan Pine and Arizona Cypress (fast growing for very dry, warm climates) & Loblolly Pine (fast growing for wet, warm climates). These tree species are suitable for Mylar Foil Trees, Burlap Trees, Wrapped Memory Trees and Soft Pack Trees.

  • Prepare a hole 18" across and 12"
  • deep.
  • Half fill with rich soil.  Mix in some dry leaves or pine needles.

  • Water regularly when there is no rain.

Indoor Planting

  • Choose a large container (approx. one gallon) with drainage holes in the bottom.
  • Follow outdoor planting instructions, watering well.
  • After initial watering, water only when very dry.
  • In the Fall, place in a cool spot away from direct heat, to set dormancy until Spring.

What if I receive my tree seedling in the Fall? Your tree seedlings may be planted outdoors 4 weeks before a hard frost.  Otherwise follow indoor planting suggestions and plant outdoors in the Spring.

What if I receive a tree seedling in the Winter months? We ship our tree seedlings year round!  Both indoor and outdoor planting instructions are provided, so you may start the seedling indoors and transfer outdoors in the spring.
